Arizona Virtual Academy is a tuition-free, K–12 online public school that students attend from home. Enrolled high schoolers work together at a collective pace with other students and a state-certified teacher. Students are offered monthly networking opportunities through various events and outings, enabling the entire school community to keep in close contact. Any student in Arizona is eligible for the program.

About Arizona Virtual Academy

The Arizona Virtual Academy uses the K¹² curriculum, featuring traditional subjects for grades K-12. Students are provided with an education that meets or exceeds state standards, and are prepared demonstrate their knowledge and skills through state standardized tests. Each student receives a complete curriculum, lesson planning programs, books and instructional materials, and the use of a computer system if needed.

While Arizona Virtual Academy has requirements for advancement, the K¹² learning program allows students to work at the pace that is right for them, rather than having to keep up with a “classroom” standard. Placement tests ensure proper placement according to each child’s level of experience.

Teachers organize school outings to museums, roller- and ice-skating parks, local zoos, and other interesting and enjoyable sites. These events bring families together and create real connections within the Arizona community. More than 97 percent of families are satisfied with the curriculum quality.

Arizona Virtual Academy Accreditation

CITA certification recognized that the “Arizona Virtual Academy has demonstrated to the international academic community that it effectively advances the quality of the educational experiences it provides for its students and is in compliance with the standards of the Commission.”

To earn accreditation from North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, a school must demonstrate high standards, be evaluated by a team of professionals from outside the school, and implement a continuous school improvement plan focused on increasing student performance. NAS CASI accreditation provides the Arizona Virtual Academy an external mark of quality and a measurement of progress focused on raising student academic achievement.

Arizona Virtual Academy Programs

Arizona Virtual Academy’s K¹² high school course catalog is robust, offering more than 130 core, elective, and Advanced Placement courses. Math, language arts, science, and history courses are offered in multiple versions to meet the needs of diverse learners with diverse goals. Up to four levels of world languages are offered as well. Students can chart their own course, choosing from among the four levels of courses to match their aptitude and goals.
