About Idaho Distance Education Academy

Learning through I-DEA relies heavily on parental involvement. Parents function as teaching guides on a day-to-day basis, and can tailor instruction and assessment to meet each child’s learning styles, academic level and interests. I-DEA offers three Resource Centers located around the state, which allow students to meet personally with their teachers, participate in workshops, take assessments, and participate in student-led portfolio conferences. Resource Centers have a library with a collection of educational books, videos, tapes, kits, and more that are available for checkout.

Students at Idaho Distance Education Academy are provided with an “allotment,” which they may trade in exchange for courses, internet access, I-DEA computer rental, and other materials. Curricular materials are ordered through an online catalog, shipped directly to the student, and deducted from the allotment. Allotment funds may also be used to seek reimbursement for approved college credits for eligible high school Juniors and Seniors, through which they may receive dual credit for both high school and college. Courses are available in a classroom format on the college campus, or there are online options to maximize flexibility in scheduling.
