The Louisiana Department of Education established The Louisiana Virtual School to provide high school students state-wide access to standards-based high school courses delivered by certified teachers. Students in Louisiana Virtual courses utilize the web, e-mail, and other online and offline resources to complete a rich course of study in a multitude of courses.

About Louisiana Virtual School

Louisiana Virtual affords schools the opportunity to expand learning opportunities to students through courses that would not otherwise be available to them. The 2010-2011 school year marks the beginning of the 11th year of program implementation for program. Louisiana Virtual offers educational opportunities to eligible students, but is not a credit or diploma granting institution.

Louisiana Virtual School Programs

Louisiana Virtual offers regular core courses and electives. Most program courses are offered as full year courses following a traditional time schedule; however, some courses are offered as full-credit semester block or half-credit semester block courses.
