About Monroe Virtual High School

Monroe Virtual offers non-traditional high school credits that can be earned through a variety of learning options, such as work study, service learning, on-line courses, and print-based classes. Many students enroll in Monroe to recover credits and ensure timely high school graduation. Other students transfer credits earned through home school study to Monroe’s diploma program.

Each student enrolled in the Independent Education Program is assigned a teacher-mentor. The mentor is available through e-mail, toll-free telephone calls, written communication or in person at the Monroe Virtual High School Center. The teacher-mentor monitors the student’s trajectory, and sends a periodic written report of progress. Students can self-monitor online courses on a continuous basis using the course manager system.

While each student is assisted by a teacher-mentor, the role of the parent is often crucial in determining the success of a student enrolled in the Independent Education Program. Parents are encouraged to monitor their child’s progress, help the student in setting up a study schedule, and to contact the program administrator if the student is falling seriously behind.
