About NorthStar Academy

NorthStar Academy provides a high-quality high school education, with interaction and communication between teachers and students. The program’s course offerings are current, relevant, and prepared by qualified teachers. Through the conferencing software called FirstClass, teachers send their lessons and assignments over the Internet, lead group discussions, evaluate students’ assignments, and engage in most of the same teacher-student interactions that occur in traditional classrooms. Completed assignments and exams are sent to teachers for marking and then returned to the students via e-mail.

NorthStar Academy is an excellent complement to the education needs of homeschooling and international families, as it offers students the choice of taking individual courses or an entire grade-level program to meet individual academic needs. Students can register for full year or semester only courses at any time throughout the year. NorthStar does not have “due dates” in the traditional sense of the term, except in the case of Advanced Placement courses. Rather, students have suggested turn-in dates to help them gauge their pace so that they may finish their year-long class within the traditional 9-month schedule and within the respective time frame for the classes.
