Puerto Rico Virtual School, or Cursos en Línea (CeL), offers students an opportunity to take high school courses online. The school uses distance learning as a means to provide students with an educational alternative to traditional high schools, and to foster their technological development and academic achievement. The online program is available to all students in Puerto Rico.

About Puerto Rico Virtual School

Puerto Rico Virtual School was established in 2003 as a trial project for high school. Initially, it offered high school physics and pre-calculus. Teachers in the Puerto Rico public school system developed the instructional formula, curriculum content, and created a methodology for teacher to teacher training. Today, Puerto Rico Virtual offers courses to students through Blackboard e-learning software. The program currently consists of 12 teachers and 150 high school students from 14 district schools.

Puerto Rico Virtual School Programs

Puerto Rico Virtual offers 12 high school courses, including pre- and advanced calculus, science, and foreign languages. Prior to taking a course, students must participate in an online interview with the instructor.
